Early Years
After completing my training at RADA, I landed a variety of small roles in TV and on stage, including Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw at the Mermaid Theatre. These led to a series of leading roles, including the title role in Lorna Doone opposite Bill Travers and a starring part in my first major film The System opposite Oliver Reed.
My career started to take off and I starred in more films such as the cult ‘horror’ movie Hands of the Ripper opposite Eric Porter, Night of the Big Heat opposite Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and Carmilla in which I played the title role.
Action adventure TV series were very popular at this time and I had strong roles in many of them, including The Saint, Danger Man, ThePrisoner, TheAvengers, TheBaron and Man in a Suitcase.
Major television drama credits include the role of Julia in George Orwell’s 1984, David Mercer’sMorgan - A Suitable case for Treatment, and The Birth of a Private Man, and Robert Muller’sThe World that Summer.
I had a major starring part in the ITV series Hadleigh in an ongoing role opposite Gerald Harper and Michael Billington and played opposite Ed Bishop in an episode of the science fiction series U.F.O.
Theatre roles included Arnold Wesker’sThe Kitchen at the Royal Court, Raina in Arms and the Man, Mermaid Theatre, London, The Kings Mare with Glynis Johns in London’s West End and Country Dance opposite Edward Fox.
These early years culminated in the role of ‘Alais’ in the film of The Lion in Winter co-starring with Peter O’Toole, Katharine Hepburn and Anthony Hopkins, which earned me a Golden Globe nomination.
Production
I was co-executive Producer with Edward Windsor for his Ardent Productions on their production The Cater Street Hangman from the book by Anne Perry – a highly successful drama screened on ITV.
In 2009 I commenced work on writing and producing a number of short films in the "horror" genre. These were planned to be made under the banner "New Chilling Tales" by Lara Productions. The first was shot in the Autumn of 2009 and post-production was completed by January 2010. Further titles were made - "The Tell Tale Heart in 2011 and "The Yellow Wallpaper" in 2012. All are available for download on the New Chilling Tales website.
Middle Years
Following the success of The Lion in Winter and the strong interest in my work there, I moved to LA. I starred opposite Beau Bridges and John Mills in Adam's Woman and for the next two decades appeared consistently on screen and on stage. I played leading star guest roles in many popular U.S. shows including: Airwolf, The Incredible Hulk, The Six Million Dollar Man, Mission Impossible, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Hart to Hart, Magnum PI, McGyver and Mannix starring with Tom Selleck, Peter Graves (right) Buddy Ebsen, Robert Wagner, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Bill Bixby, Lee Majors amongst others.
Stage appearances included Arsenic and OldLace with the Gabor sisters (Zza Zza and Eva) in Chicago.
Back In The UK
More television work included co-starring with Ian McShane in the series Lovejoy, playing an ongoing lead role in The Accused, and also guest starring in Sharpe. At this time I decided to move into film development and production.
Recent activities 2007 - appeared in the short film "Blinded" 2008 - appeared in the short film "Bereavement" for which I received the award for "Best actress in a short drama" at the End Of The Pier International Film Festival in 2008. Spring 2009 - starred in "The Long Twilight of Stella Hunt", a short mystery film. Summer 2009 - appearing in "The Comedy Of Errors" at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Summer/Autumn 2009 - appearances in TV commercials for the Boots Company. Autumn 2009 - "Beware Of What You Wish For", filmed in high definition. A period horror story, the film was edited and an original musical score added during subsequent months. Winter 2009 - A dedicated website was set up to promote this, and other films to follow, called "New Chilling Tales". Spring 2010 - "Beware" was completed and entered in several major film festivals. The film trailer was added to the IMDB website.
